Bioethics
I am alumna of the Bioethics Program at Clarkson University (formerly Union) / Mount Sinai School of Medicine (NY, USA), of the Advanced Certificate Program – Research Ethics in Central and Eastern Europe and of the Intensive Bioethics Course (Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA).
I introduced several courses on Bioethics for undergraduates at Masaryk University and have taught them since 2003. Furthermore, I serve as a chair of the Research Ethics Committee at Masaryk University since 2015 and thus I have deep practical experience with identification, analyzing and evaluation of emerging ethical dilemmas in various fields of science. At the national level, I serve as vice-chair (elected) of the Bioethics Committee of the Research and Development Council of the Czech Government and as member of the Ethics Committee of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Czech Republic. In 2022, I was appointed as member of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE).
To provide independent, highly professional expertise and services in this field, I founded Bioethics Consulting and I am the CEO of this company.

Biology
I graduated from the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University (Brno, Czechia), where I obtained my degrees in Molecular Biology and Genetics (RNDr.) and Genetics (Ph.D.). I was appointed Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics in 2006 and became full professor in 2014.
In the field of experimental biology, my research interests are focused on animal cell biology, especially on biology of human tumor cells. Between 1995-2005, I was a head of the Laboratory of Tissue Cultures at the Department of Biology (Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University). In 2006, I established the Laboratory of Tumor Biology as a research unit of the Department of Experimental Biology with main focus on pediatric solid tumors.
In addition to the introduction and teaching of several courses on cell biology, I serve as a guarantor of the Master’s degree Study Program in Cell Biology and of the Bachelor’s degree Study program in Experimental and Molecular Biology at the School of Science, Masaryk University Brno.
